From Signal to Trade — Entry, Exit, and Management Plan

Translate a daily signal into a simple, safe trading plan. Choose entry type (pending vs market), place SL/TP, plan partials and trailing (MA/ATR/Fractals), set time filters (avoid rollover/news), and prepare with alerts.

4.1Entry types: pending (limit/stop) vs market (interactive primer)

Pending Orders (Recommended)
Buy Limit
Buy lower on dip — order placed below current price
Sell Limit
Sell higher on bounce — order placed above current price
Buy Stop
Buy above breakout — order placed above current price
Sell Stop
Sell below breakdown — order placed below current price
Market Orders

Instant entry at current ask/bid (subject to spread/slippage)

Quick Examples

Buy above 1.1000
→ Buy Stop at 1.1002 (buffer for spread/slippage)
Buy on pullback to 1.0985
→ Buy Limit at 1.0985
Pending orders reduce timing pressure; always confirm spread/news filter before activation.

4.2Place orders relative to forecast levels (micro sandbox)

Map Signal to Order Type
Suggested Order:
Buy Stop at 1.1002 (buffer +2 pips)
Check spread and news windows; cancel if conditions degrade.

4.3SL/TP design: static, partials, trailing (planner)

Static SL/TP Guidelines
Stop-Loss: Below/above swing low/high OR ATR×1 (ATR(14) default)
Take-Profit: 1.5R/2R or next S/R level
Partials & Trailing Options

Optional: close 50% at +1R, move SL to break-even, trail the rest

Trailing Methods:
MA trail: Trail SL below rising MA(20) for longs (above for shorts)
ATR trail: SL = Entry ± ATR×1; update per bar
Fractals: Trail behind last two fractals
Build Your Exit Plan
Your Composite Exit Plan:
SL: Swing low/high | TP: 1.5R
Tip: Start simple with static SL/TP. Add partials and trailing after you're comfortable with basic execution.

4.4Time filters: avoid rollover/news; preferred session windows

Configure Time Filters
Preferred Trading Sessions:
Your Time Filter Guidance:
Avoid rollover (23:50–00:10) | Avoid ±15/30m around high-impact news | Preferred: London (08:00–11:00)
Align server time properly (refer back to Lesson 5 of automated course or internal note if needed).

4.5Alerts & "morning block": prepare before signals arrive

Alert Preparation Workflow
1

Build a wish list: list 2–3 instruments and scenarios you'll consider if conditions align

2

Create price alerts in MT5 for key levels (right-click chart → Trading → Alert). Include buffers

3

(Optional) Enable push notifications (Tools → Options → Notifications; MetaQuotes ID; Test)

4

If you won't be at the screen: set pending orders with conservative buffers and time filters; cancel if news/rollover or spread widens

4.6Practice: write a 5-line plan for one signal and set alerts

Pick one EURUSD scenario from today. Convert it to a 5-line plan:

Create at least one price alert for the trigger level.
